Lindsay and Stephen

Stephen and Lindsay

Lindsay and Stephen met in the fall of 2013, right after their beloved Cardinals and Red Sox played in the World Series. Despite their different allegiances, they quickly hit it off! And they have been inseparable ever since.

Lindsay is a native of Southern Arizona who now loves her adopted city. She may not have lasted long if she hadn’t met and fallen in love with Boston local Stephen during her first New England winter. Fortunately, they did fall in love and have grown closer through their shared passions for learning and making a difference.

Lindsay is honing her public speaking skills as a member of the Longwood Toastmasters. Stephen has been learning French for several years as a member of Boston’s French Cultural Center. Both are learning to code. Lindsay is a Pythonista who uses her skills in her work in fundraising analytics. Stephen has been learning several languages to build this website from scratch and for his work on the Salesforce platform.

Lindsay is on the board of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Boston, which provides networking and development opportunities for young leaders in the nonprofit sector. For the past five years, Stephen has led a volunteer group that provides weekly tutoring sessions for students preparing for high school equivalency (Hi-SET and GED) exams.

Stephen popped the question in April 2017 during a weekend trip to New York City, using a characteristically elaborate plan (ask him about the engagement jeans!).

They love to travel, keep their local Starbucks in business, and cheer on their Cards and Sox! They are excited to welcome everyone and celebrate at their wedding!

The Engagement

Stephen proposed to Lindsay at Oak Bridge in Central Park, New York City in April 2017. Here’s how it went down:

They went for a walk in Central Park, one of our favorite things to do when we are in New York. It was starting to rain, but before leaving the park Stephen wanted to check out one last place that had a great view of the city. They walked down to Oak Bridge.

Standing there were two people ostensibly waiting for another photo shoot later in the day. The couple approached them and asked if they would take a picture with Stephen's phone. Lindsay didn't know this at the time, but these two strangers were photographers Stephen had hired to capture the proposal, and the phone exchange was a signal between them that each was ready. As Stephen proposed, the photographers pulled out their cameras and started taking pictures of the whole thing! Lindsay totally didn’t see it coming! Of course, she said yes! (Actually, she said “of course!”) And then they had a photo shoot together in Central Park.

It was an amazing day and a wonderful way to kick off their engagement. Below are some photos from the proposal and photo shoot.

Registry

We'll tell you what we want, what we really, really want
We'll tell you what we want, what we really, really want
For you to be there, to support us, celebrate us and dance with us
But you really, really, really don't have to give a gift ahhh

In all seriousness, though, we are really proud of our volunteer work and the causes we care deeply about. While a gift would be welcomed and appreciated, we ask that you please consider making a donation instead to one of the organizations below. These organizations mean a lot to us and your support would be greatly appreciated!

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

As the Associate Director of Analytics at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Lindsay helps the development team raise funds to support cancer research and patient care. Please consider making a donation to Dana-Farber to support this life-changing work.

X-Cel Education

As a volunteer leader and math tutor at X-Cel Education, Stephen helps provide individualized, free high school equivalency and college and career preparation for adult learners in underserved neighborhoods in Boston. Please consider making a donation to X-Cel to support this innovative program.

However, if you would like to give us a gift, we have set up a registry with Zola.
